Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats with Kefir

Overnight oats are incredibly satisfying and tasty. Instead of cooking the oats before eating, we let the kefir (or yoghurt) soften them overnight to provide a nourishing meal for tomorrow.

Because we’re letting the oats set in a cup or jar, its also an opportunity to add everything and anything that you would normally to add to a bowl of oats, such as fruits, nuts, seeds, spices and sweeteners and let them blend in the mix overnight as well.

Apple and cinnamon combination is one of our favourites and those 2 delicious ingredients provide additional digestive and blood sugar support. Kefir is a fermented milk with a similar taste to natural greek yoghurt and packed with probiotics to keep your gut (and you!) strong & healthy.

Apple and Cinnamon Overnight Oats with Kefir

  • 1/3 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Cup Kefir
  • 1/2 small Apple, grated
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1 Tbs Hemp Seeds
  • 1 Tbs Pecans or Almonds, chopped
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/4 – 1/2 Cup of Milk/Mylk (optional depending on texture)

Place the Oats, Kefir, Apple, Cinnamon, Seeds, Nuts and Honey (optional) into a tall glass, bowl or portable mug. Mix with a spoon to combine.

If the mixture is too thick for your liking, add some milk/mylk.

Seal the glass/mug and place in the fridge overnight. Enjoy it when you wake or keep it refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Other than breakfast, we love  this recipe for morning or afternoon tea or as a great pre – workout bite. Making it in a portable mug is perfect for easy transport!
